Privacy Policy

PocketChange ("the app") is built with a simple principle: your financial data is yours, and it stays on your device. This policy explains exactly what that means.

What we collect

Your budget data (categories, transactions, budget limits, and app settings) is never collected by us. There's no server component for any of that: everything you enter stays stored locally on your device using standard on-device storage. We don't use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs, and nothing about how you use the app is tracked.

The one exception is subscribing to PocketChange Premium. That purchase is processed by RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, and by Apple's App Store. RevenueCat receives your purchase/transaction details and an anonymous identifier it generates to track your subscription status. It does not receive your budget data, transactions, or categories, and it cannot identify you personally. You can read RevenueCat's own privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Backups

The app includes an optional Export/Import Backup feature in Settings. When you export a backup, the app creates a JSON file containing your categories, transactions, and settings, and hands it to your device's native share sheet (or triggers a file download, on web) so you can save it wherever you choose: your device's Files app, cloud storage, email, and so on. This is entirely under your control. PocketChange does not upload this file anywhere, and we never see its contents.

Third parties

PocketChange doesn't share your budget data with anyone, because it never leaves your device. The only third parties involved at all are RevenueCat and Apple, and only for the purpose of processing a subscription purchase, as described above.

Children's privacy

PocketChange is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, regardless of age. See "What we collect" above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, for example if a future version of the app adds optional cloud sync or account features, we'll update this page and adjust the effective date above. Any feature that would change how your data is handled will be clearly opt-in.
